2025 NADTA Virtual Symposium

May 24th, 2025 on Zoom

What is the theme of #NADTAVIRTUAL2025?

Acknowledge and Discover

The theme is centered on holistically honoring the growth journey. To grow, we seek to recognize and learn from our history, evaluate where we are, and seek to discover what is possible in the days ahead. In the wake of great upheaval and tragedy, we need resources and space to heal and recover our equilibrium. Throughout history, we have seen art used to combat or hold a mirror to or allow space to hold the discomfort. In this moment, we are presented with the incredible opportunity to discover innovative strategies to chart new routes to mending the wounds for all of our clients, and within ourselves. The theme’s intent is to focus on care for the artist, the student, the client, and the clinician, as we prepare to enter the work. This may come in the form of:

  • Methods for self-care/space for expression [care for the caretaker]
  • Sharing new techniques being used in the field
  • Research
  • Art to advocate or confront
  • Examining common trends of concern
  • Insight into populations that need additional support
  • Etc.
The theme invites inspiring proposals that explore and inform participants about this healing process through the drama therapy lens.
